I’d say take it. 4,8 mil annual salary is pretty decent, especially if you’re still a fresh graduate and have zero experience (I don’t know about your japanese level though). After you worked here for some years, you can decide if you want to stick with the job or find a new one, since it is easier because you have the visa already.

echoing the others, it’s a pretty good starting point for a fresh grad, make sure that you research the company as much as possible, there are some companies here that prey on foreigners eagerness to get a work visa to overwork them and even lie about the initial salary and/or benefits. best of luck

I think its a good and fair offer for a newbie. 228000 didn't sound so much but + living allowance, overtime pay ( which is not so common) and possible bonuses I wouldn't think about it twice if I were you.

1. 住宅手当はどうだ？会社の寮が用意されるのか、それとも自分で部屋を探さなければならないのか？東京の基本的なアパートは大体6～10万かかる。

2. ほとんどの日本企業は従業員の交通費を負担してくれるが、その費用を負担してくれるかどうか聞いてみても損はないだろう。

1. What about living arrangements? Are they gonna provide a company dorm or you have to find a place on your own? A basic apartment in Tokyo roughly costs 6-10 Man. 2. Most Japanese companies pay for the transportation costs of the employee, but it wouldn't hurt to ask if they will shoulder the cost of it. 3. Overall, it is a good starting amount for a fresh grad.

Just go. I doubt you'll never get such an offer without having to have (unnecessary) biz level Japanese. But, you're going to be working alot. Try not to get too sucked into the drinking thing. You should plan on staying for quite a while because the yen is super weak right now. Converting your coin will result in heavy losses.

Vnm person living in Jp for 12 years working in IT here. That's a great offer for fresh grad. Trust me. If you like the job, take it. You can also change job and make a hugeee jump after that in the field. Fresh grad in Japan makes about 3 - 3.2mil so that's a very good starting point!

That's a modest salary in China. Generally, the starting salary of AI graduates is about 20,000 yuan（2780dollars/month）, but there will be daily overtime. One of my classmates is a graduate student in Nanjing University, and his senior graduated and entered Huawei for 500,000 RMB（70000dollars before taxed） a year. Therefore, if you take so little money in Japan, I think it is better to find another opportunity to come to China.

4.8m/year is low for AI engineer in Tokyo. You can live with that money, sure. But definitely anything below \~6-6.5m is underpaid

Yeah that offer is bs. I work in fintech and the minimum was 9m. Last year I made 18m (that is with overtime) so you should definitely counter offer or look for a different job. Even at AWS a network technician starts at 6.5m

Vietnamese Ph.D. student in AI here in Kyoto. I work in a graduate school laboratory and according to my observation, Japanese undergrad juniors in my lab got their salary a bit higher (27man-30man yen) than that when they got a job in Tokyo. It's a standard-ish salary for fresh undergraduates, I guess. I don't know about your profile (yoe\[s\], notable awards, languages, etc) and qualifications to give my opinion on whether this salary is fair or not.

卒業までまだ時間があるのなら、オファーを受け入れるが、探し続けること。より良いオファーが見つかったら、最初の会社に心変わりせざるを得なかったことを丁寧に謝罪するメールを送ろう。より良い会社が見つからなかったとしても、まだこのオファーがあるしな。

給料に関して言えば、480万円は新卒の初任給としては悪くないと思う。最高の給料とは言えないが、東京でその給料で生活するのは問題ないだろう。ある程度の経験（～2年程度）を積んでから、より高い給与の次のポジションを探す。その間に日本語を上達させれば、日本での仕事の道が開けるだろう。

If you still have time before you graduate, accept the offer but keep looking. If you find something better, [edit: accept the better offer and then] send a polite email of apology that you had to change your mind. If you don't find something better you still have this one. As far as the salary goes, I don't think 4.8mil JPY is a terrible starting salary for a fresh grad. It's not the best salary, but you'll be fine living on that in Tokyo. Gain some experience (~2 years or so) and then look for the next position with higher pay. Make sure you also work on improving your Japanese during that time, it will open more doors for work in Japan.

未経験者としてはまずまずの給料だし、今の資格でこれ以上の給料を得られるとは思えない。そこに住み、経験を積めば、間違いなくもっと良いオファーが見つかるだろう。

Depends on your opportunity cost. What's your second best choice look like? That's a decent salary for someone with 0 experience and I doubt you will get a better one with your current qualifications. Once you live here, have experience and the companies don't need to sponsor a COE, you will definitely find better offers.
